Sarah Harper

Hometown: Charlotte, NC

Biography: Sarah got started in whitewater kayaking through her college outdoor program in Vermont and she hasn’t spent a season off the water since. Having worked for such prestigious companies such as Zoar Outdoor and the Nantahala Outdoor Center, Sarah helped develop the whitewater program at the University of Tennessee while working on her masters degree in Sports Management. “I see kayaking as a continual personal growth opportunity with no ceiling.”

Sarah is the Instruction Manager at the US National Whitewater Center and oversees all kayak operations including private boaters and flatwater programs on the Catawba river. Working at the USNWC has given her a unique opportunity to expand the number of paddlesports participants and Sarah works fervently to ensure this new user group is well versed in safety, conservation and river stewardship through high standards of teaching principles that are conveyed in all levels of her programs.

AW Testimonial:American Whitewater is a vital component of our sport. It is imperative for all of us to be engaged in spreading the good word of conservation and stewardship and AW provides a fantastic platform for that voice to be heard on the national level.
